American action film by Isaac Florentine from 2010, in which Yuri Boyka enters a prison tournament against capoeira, taekwondo and other styles.

Undisputed III: Redemption is a 2010 American action film directed by Isaac Florentine for Nu Image. It premiered on April 17, 2010 at the ActionFest festival and was released in the USA on June 1, 2010. It is a sequel to Undisputed II: Last Man Standing, and the film Boyka: Undisputed, shot in the summer of 2015, continued the story. The main character is Yuri Boyka, a Russian fighter who was expelled from an underground fighting organization after a knee injury. He makes a living as a prison cleaner when he gets the chance to enter an international tournament of prison fighters in the Gorgon prison in Georgia. The tournament pits fighters from different countries and with different styles against each other. The Brazilian Rodrigo Silva, played by Lateef Crowder, fights with capoeira, and the North Korean Chai Lam with taekwondo. Also entering are the Colombian Dolor, played by Marko Zaror, and the American Jericho Jones, played by Mykel Shannon Jenkins. We have not been able to confirm from sources which style these two characters fight with. Boyka is played by Scott Adkins, whose original martial art is taekwondo. At ActionFest 2010 the film won the award for best direction for Isaac Florentine and the award for best fight choreography for Larnell Stovall. The reviewer James Marsh of Screen Anarchy called the fights innovative, exciting and technically groundbreaking.

Fight choreography

The fights were choreographed by Larnell Stovall, who won the ActionFest 2010 award for best fight choreography for them. We have not been able to confirm his own martial arts training from sources. Lateef Crowder, who plays the capoeirista Rodrigo Silva, has trained in martial arts since age six and has been part of the stunt team ZeroGravity since 2000. He had already shot a capoeira scene with Tony Jaa in the film The Protector (2005). Marko Zaror started at age six as a self-taught fighter, and his main disciplines are taekwondo and kickboxing, supplemented by judo, aikido, Wing Chun and Shotokan karate. Before playing Dolor he worked only as a stuntman, and in this film he acted in English for the first time. Scott Adkins began with taekwondo at 13, earned a black belt by 19, and later added judo, kickboxing, capoeira, Krav Maga, Jeet Kune Do and wushu.
