Definition
The pandeiro is a small hand drum with a head and metal jingles around the rim. The player holds it in one hand and plays it with the other, using fingers, thumb and palm. It is a typical instrument of Brazilian music, such as samba. In the capoeira roda it belongs to the bateria with the berimbau and atabaque. Usually one or two pandeiros are played, complementing the berimbau's rhythm.
