About
Twimyo Nopi Ap Cha Busigi is a high flying front piercing kick of ITF taekwondo meant to break a board. The name combines twimyo (in flight, jumping), nopi (high), and ap cha busigi, front piercing or breaking kick. The aim is to strike the board correctly so it flies backward. It belongs to the required techniques of the ITF special techniques discipline for men and women; in order, it is the first of five for men (juniors and seniors) and the first of three for women. The additions nopi and busigi distinguish it from Twimyo Ap Chagi: a breaking variant aimed at a board, not an ordinary sparring kick. It differs from Twimyo Nopi Yop Cha Jirugi in direction and tool, since that one is a side piercing kick with the edge of the foot. In the tul Ul-Ji, the 27th movement is a high flying kick with the right leg, called Twimyo Nopi Apcha Busigi. In the tul So-San, the 28th movement is a related but lower variant, Twimyo Apcha Busigi, without nopi — a different technique.
