About

Nukite (貫手), literally piercing hand, is, per the Japan Karatedo Federation, a strike where the fingers are extended straight and struck with their tips. Because the force concentrates into a single point more than with an ordinary punch, it targets vital points: the solar plexus, the side, the throat, or the eyes. Shotokan technique lists also distinguish versions with fewer fingers: ippon nukite with one finger, for example in the kata Unsu, and nihon nukite with two fingers.
