About Hankido
According to English Wikipedia, Hankido is a relatively new style of hapkido developed by Myung Jae-nam, in which circular and flowing movements come from his knowledge of traditional Korean dance. Its development began, it says, in the eighties, and the exact year varies by source. The International H.K.D. Federation gives 11 November 1984 on its website, Korean Wikipedia gives the presentation in December 1988 and the proclamation in February 1991. According to Green, Myung Jae-nam was among those whom Ji Han-jae brought to the art, and he founded the International Hapkido Federation, for which Green gives the year 1983, while English Wikipedia and the federation's website give 1974. According to Wikipedia, Hankido was first officially presented at the 1st International H.K.D. Games in Seoul, and in 1993 the federation registered its name as a trademark. Wikipedia says hankido is much more an internal art, whereas hapkido is semi-internal, and that it rests on the principles won, yu and hwa and on the power of softness. Myung promoted hankido, it says, in Europe and the USA until his death in 1999, and the federation's website gives 3 August 1999.
History
According to English Wikipedia, the International H.K.D. Federation was founded in 1974 as the International Hapkido Federation, and the Korean government recognised it in 1981. According to the federation's website, Myung developed hwan sang do bup, eight parts of hankido and the basic plan of hankumdo in December 1988. According to Wikipedia, hankumdo arose from hankido techniques against a sword attack, and Myung first taught it as a separate art in 1986. Green writes that Myung combined his style of hapkido with Japanese aikido.

Technique
English Wikipedia lists three exercises for the three principles, jeon hwan bub for the circle, young nyu bub for flow and shim hwa bub for the heart, together sam dae wolly. According to it, hankido comprises twelve basic self-defence techniques, ho shin ki, combined with 24 breathing techniques, twelve for the defender called the techniques of heaven and twelve for the attacker called the techniques of earth. According to Wikipedia, the part moo yae do bub blends techniques with traditional Korean dance.
Competition
According to English Wikipedia, the International H.K.D. Federation holds the International H.K.D. Games every three years, has held seven since 1990, and the last ones listed took place in the summer of 2010 in Battle Creek, Michigan. According to English Wikipedia, after Myung's death his son Myung Sung Kwang took over the federation, and in 2000 he got the consent of the Korean Ministry of Culture and Tourism to found the Jaenam Musul Won foundation.
