Sambo Samooborona (Samozashchita Bez Oruzhya) was created by Viktor Spiridonov in the 1920s. Unlike hard sport and combat Sambo, it is based on the principle of leverage, minimal use of force, dodging and disarming attackers with a knife or pistol.
