History
Companion dagger held in the left hand while fencing with a rapier (hence Main-Gauche). Wide quillons and sail guard were designed to trap and block the opponent rapier.
About
Used to parry and bind the opponent blade, freeing the rapier for a fatal thrust. Can also deliver close-quarters counter-thrusts.
