Definition
Uke-waza ('receiving techniques') forms Karate's defensive shield. Primary blocks include Age-uke (rising block), Soto-uke (outside block), Uchi-uke (inside block), and Gedan-barai (low sweep). Master-level execution deflects energy rather than crashing bone-on-bone.
