Definition
Tou (竹束) is a bundle of bamboo rods, tied at the top and bottom or in the middle. In Okinawan hojo undo it conditions the fingers: the practitioner repeatedly thrusts outstretched fingers into the bundle, as in the nukite thrust. Jari bako has a similar purpose, a container first with sand, then with rice and finally with smooth pebbles, into which the fingers are also thrust. Both belong to Okinawan hojo undo.
