Definition
Kurtka (Russian for jacket) is a sambo jacket. It is shorter and closer-fitting than the judo jacket, with reinforced shoulder epaulettes that provide a grip. The belt is threaded through loops at the sides, so the kurtka does not ride up. Under the rules, wrestlers compete in a red or blue kurtka with a belt of the same color, worn with short shorts of the same color and soft sambo shoes.
