Quick Facts
Definition
Chishi is a levered stone mallet utilized in Okinawan Goju-ryu and Uechi-ryu Karate conditioning (Hojo Undo). Gripping the end of the wooden handle, practitioners perform rotational exercises that strengthen the wrist, forearm, shoulder girdle, and grip. The offset center of gravity builds shoulder stability and core power.
