About
Twio dolmyo yop cha jirugi is a flying side kick with a turn in ITF taekwondo: it combines a jump (twio), a turn (dolmyo) and a side kick (yop cha jirugi). After landing, the practitioner must keep their balance. ITF terminology distinguishes it from the related twimyo yop cha jirugi, a flying side kick that strikes with the foot edge near the heel (balkal). At ITF tournaments it is one of the five compulsory techniques of the men's special-techniques category, alongside twimyo nopi ap cha busigi, twimyo dollyo chagi, twimyo bandae dollyo chagi and twimyo nopi yop cha jirugi; the women's category has three techniques and does not require it. The aim is the highest or longest possible jump: the striking surface must hit a board mounted on a stand and knock it backward; the required height is set by the championship invitation and measured with special equipment.
