Quick Facts
About
Twimyo Nopi Yop Cha Jirugi is a high flying side piercing kick of ITF taekwondo. Twimyo means in flight or jumping, nopi high, and yop cha jirugi side piercing kick. It strikes with the edge of the foot, in Korean terminology balkal, the same as the ground-based yop cha jirugi. The aim is to strike a board held as high as possible with a flying side kick and knock it back using the correct tool and method. It belongs to the required techniques of the ITF special techniques discipline for men and women; for men it is the fifth and last of five in order, for women the third and last of three. The word nopi distinguishes it from the basic Twimyo Yop Cha Jirugi: it is a competition variant for maximum height and breaking, while the basic technique is an ordinary flying kick with no set height. It differs from Twio Dolmyo Yop Cha Jirugi, the fourth technique for men, which includes a turn, in being a straight version without one. It differs from Twimyo Nopi Ap Cha Busigi in direction and tool, since that one is a front breaking kick.
