About

Twimyo dollyo chagi (뛰며 돌려차기), literally a roundhouse kick in flight, combines a jump with the roundhouse kick dollyo chagi. ITF terminology names the ball of the foot, apkumchi, as the striking surface and classifies the kick among advanced airborne techniques, while the ground-based dollyo chagi is a standard kick. Compared to it, this kick adds a jump and a greater transfer of energy. At ITF tournaments, twimyo dollyo chagi is one of the mandatory special-technique events in which a jumping kick breaks a board: men perform five techniques, women three, and the jumping roundhouse kick is required of both categories. The board must be struck with the correct striking surface and knocked backward. Alongside it, men also perform, among others, a high jumping front kick and a jumping reverse spinning kick, twimyo bandae dollyo chagi. In the ITF curriculum, twimyo dollyo chagi is a mandatory technique of one-step sparring, ilbo matsogi, at blue belt, 4. kup.
