About
Sonkal dung ap taerigi, literally forward strike with the reverse knife-hand, is in ITF Taekwon-Do a strike with the reverse side of the knife-hand (sonkal dung) driven forward at the opponent's head or face. In the New Zealand club Tiger Taekwon-Do's grading syllabus it is placed exactly under this name at yellow belt level (8th gup). It differs from sonkal ap taerigi, the forward knife-hand strike, in the side of the knife-hand used and the direction of the strike. In the tul Choong-Moo (ITF) it is the 13th movement, a high forward strike with the right reverse knife-hand from a left walking stance. It is performed similarly in Ge-Baek as the 32nd movement, where the breakdown gives the full form sonkal dung nopunde ap taerigi.
