About
Sonbadak nopunde golcha makgi, literally high hooking palm block, is in ITF Taekwon-Do a block with the palm (sonbadak) at the high level (nopunde), in which the palm catches an attack and deflects it off target with a hooking, circular motion (golcha). The basic form sonbadak golcha makgi is placed in the grading syllabus of the New Zealand club Tiger Taekwon-Do at blue stripe level (5th gup). The hand is in front of the chest, the palm faces down, the elbow forms an angle of about 25°, and the motion is directed toward the chest line. It differs from sonbadak duro makgi, a scooping palm block, and sonbadak mirro makgi, a pushing palm block, in the type of palm motion. In the tul Kwang-Gae (ITF) it is the 4th and 6th movement.
