About
Revers is a hooking, reverse kick of French savate; its name literally means reverse or backward motion. It strikes with the foot, not the toe or heel, and is performed frontally or from the side at three heights: high, medium, and low. Savate is contested in a hard boot with a rubber toe, which affects the foot contact of revers. Its hooking, reverse path lets revers strike even from behind the opponent's guard. It differs from chassé and fouetté in the striking surface, foot instead of heel or toe, and in its path of movement. At the highest competitive level, combat, fighting is at full intensity and only a groin guard and mouthguard are mandatory. We have not been able to document who introduced revers into savate.
