About
Renoji dachi, shortened to reno dachi, is named after the shape of the katakana character レ (re). According to the JKA description, as given by the English Wikipedia, the feet stand at shoulder width, the front foot points straight forward and the rear one is turned 90° outward; if the front foot were drawn back, the heels would touch. The weight is distributed 70% on the rear leg and 30% on the front leg. The Wiki Karate Cosmos describes the stance differently: with the weight evenly distributed on both legs and the rear foot turned 45° or 90°. In Shotokan kata according to JKA listings it appears in Heian Godan as movement 18 and in Kanku Dai as movements 20 and 25.
