About

Morote uke (諸手受け), literally a block with both hands, is a reinforced forearm block. It builds on the basic block uchi uke, joined by a second hand: its fist braces the blocking forearm and gives it support. Shotokan technique lists record it as a double forearm block; elsewhere it is called a reinforced block. In a broader sense, the name can also denote other two-handed blocks. Among karate blocks, it belongs to the two-handed group together with kosa uke and manji uke. In shotokan it appears in the Heian series, in the kata Heian Nidan, Sandan, Yondan, and Godan.
