Quick Facts
About
Kizami zuki (刻み突き), literally a chopping punch, is a fast punch with the front hand, the jab. Per the Japan Karatedo Federation (JKF), the practitioner steps the front foot forward from the fighting stance while striking the opponent's upper level with the front fist at once. Unlike oi zuki it needs no full step, and unlike gyaku zuki it attacks with the hand on the front-foot side. In WKF kumite, a zuki strike to a scoring zone is judged as yuko, one point.
