About
Keumgang makgi (금강막기), the diamond block, combines two blocks in one movement: an upper rising block and a lower side block. The body is turned sideways while the practitioner looks to the side. The name refers to the statue of the guardian Geumgang yeoksa, the diamond warrior; the word keumgang means diamond and symbolises hardness. The block appears in the form Keumgang for 2nd dan, where the practitioner performs it in the crane stance hakdari seogi. One application raises the opponent's arm while pressing their neck down, possibly combined with an upward knee strike.
