About
Dwi dollyo chagi (뒤돌려차기) is a spinning kick, in English spin hook kick. Kukkiwon calls it dwi huryeo chagi (뒤후려차기); dwi dollyo chagi is the more common, unofficial name. The kick turns the whole body: the rear leg swings around the back, stays extended to the side and sweeps across the target while the practitioner looks over the shoulder. The striking surface is the heel's back or underside; in Olympic sparring the ball of the foot or sole is also often used. It targets mainly the jaw, but also the temple, where it can knock the opponent out. It is aimed deliberately a little to the side of the target and swept back to catch the opponent off guard. It is required at gradings from blue belt up to black stripe. Under the 2024 ISF rules, derived from WT rules, a spinning kick scores four points to the body guard and five to the head, a kick without a spin two and three.
