About

Chetdari jireugi (쳇다리 지르기), in English fork punch, is a double strike with both fists at once in taekwondo. According to a column on sports terminology on maniareport.com, one fist moves outward to the side, deflecting the incoming attack, while the other strikes the opponent's torso, usually the solar plexus; seen from above, the extended arms form the shape of the tool the technique is named after. Chetdari is a traditional Korean stand on which a sieve is placed when straining liquids, for example alcohol, sauce or oil; older pieces were wooden, often made from split branches in the shape of the character 井, well. According to the same column, linguists and taekwondo experts named the technique after noticing the resemblance. The website nbtkda.com also gives a self-defence use: the front arm deflects a grab or an attack, and the other helps unbalance the opponent.
