About

Bandae dollyo chagi (반대 돌려차기), literally reverse turning kick, is in ITF taekwondo an advanced counterpart of the roundhouse kick dollyo chagi, in which the body turns the opposite way. ITF terminology gives the striking surface as the back of the heel, dwitchook, whereas the ordinary dollyo chagi strikes with the front of the foot. Because of the reverse turn, the kick arrives from an unexpected direction. It differs in path from the related bandae golcha chagi, a reverse hook kick with the same striking surface: bandae dollyo chagi traces a turning arc, golcha chagi a hook. There is also a jumping version, twimyo bandae dollyo chagi, which is among the required special techniques for men at ITF tournaments. Bandae dollyo chagi itself is, on the ITF syllabus, a required two-step sparring technique, ibo matsogi, at green belt, 6th kup.
