Street Fighter: Resurrection

Street Fighter: Resurrection is a British web series from 2016 made for Machinima by Joey Ansah, who directed it and wrote all four episodes. The producers included Jacqueline Quella and Yoshinori Ono of Capcom. It is a sequel to the series Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist: the story is set ten years after it, and Mike Moh returns as Ryu and Christian Howard as Ken Masters. The new character is Charlie Nash, played by Alain Moussi. The four episodes, each 8 to 9 minutes long, were released weekly from 15 March to 5 April 2016 on Verizon's go90 platform, and reached YouTube on 19 December 2016. The release coincided with the game Street Fighter V, and the series served as its promotion. Like Assassin's Fist, the series relies on actors with real martial arts training. Ryu and Ken, however, are students of the fictional style Ansatsuken from the game, so the series does not show any specific real martial art. We have not been able to establish from the sources who choreographed the fights.

Fight choreography

The main trio of actors all have years of training behind them. Mike Moh, who plays Ryu, holds a 6th dan in American taekwondo. Christian Howard, who plays Ken Masters, has trained in kung-fu, karate, taekwondo and capoeira since the age of 13. Alain Moussi, who plays Charlie Nash, is a stuntman and fight coordinator; he holds a 6th dan in jiu-jitsu, a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and a 1st dan in karate, and also did kickboxing. Director Joey Ansah, who himself led the fight choreography on Assassin's Fist, trained in taekwondo for four years as a child.
