Sigung (師公) is the Cantonese reading, shigong in Mandarin. It addresses the teacher of one's own master sifu, that is, the previous generation of the school. In Chinese arts a school's lineage is described as a family: besides sifu and sigung there are terms for the master's older and younger fellow student (sibak, sisuk) and for older and younger fellow students (sihing, sidai).
