Definition

Shuai (摔) means to throw, to bring down. Chinese martial arts traditionally distinguish four kinds of skills: ti (kicks), da (strikes), shuai (throws and takedowns) and na (locks and grips). Shuaifa are throwing techniques found in most kung-fu styles. Throws developed furthest in shuai jiao wrestling, which is an art in its own right. In modern sport sanda, throws are combined with strikes and kicks, and clean takedowns score points.
