Definition
Prajied (or Pra Jiad) are traditional amulets braided from cord or cloth, worn by Muay Thai fighters on one or both biceps. Historically, scraps of clothing from mothers or blessed objects from monks were woven into them, meant to protect the fighter from injury and bring victory. While the Mongkhon headband is removed before the fight, the fighter keeps the prajied on their arms throughout the entire bout. In modern times, Western countries sometimes use them to mark a fighter's technical grade, similar to belts in karate, though this does not correspond to original Thai tradition.
