About
Yop palkup tulgi, literally side elbow thrust, is in ITF Taekwondo a thrust (tulgi) with the elbow (palkup) to the side (yop). It differs in the type of motion from the elbow strikes that the ITKD technique manual lists as wi palkup taerigi and ap palkup taerigi: tulgi means thrust, taerigi strike. Per the breakdowns of both dotaekwondo.net and taekwondo.sk, it is movement 14 and 21 in the tul Choong-Jang, movement 39 in Juche, movement 47 and 49 in Yon-Gae, and movement 22 in Se-Jong. In Choong-Jang and Yon-Gae it is performed in an L-stance (niunja sogi), in Juche in a back-leg stance (dwitbal sogi), and in Se-Jong in a fixed stance (gojung sogi).
