About
Sonnal biteureo bakkat makgi (손날 비틀어 바깥막기), in English knife hand twisting outward block, is in Kukkiwon terminology one of the biteureo makgi blocks: done with the hand opposite the stepping leg while the trunk twists (biteureo means to twist). Sonnal is the edge of the hand, bakkat outward, makgi block. It differs from sonnal bakkat makgi in the trunk twist and in being done by the hand opposite the stepping leg. In Taegeuk Yook Jang, Taekwondo Compendium lists it as eolgul sonnal biteureo makgi, at upper level; Phoenix Taekwondo's photo breakdown shows it in ap kubi. The Compendium notes the blocking arm's palm faces forward, fingertips at eye height, elbow in front of the shoulder, and the trunk turned 30 to 45 degrees opposite the front leg.
