About
Sonkal kaunde hechyo makgi, literally middle wedging block with the knifehand, is in ITF Taekwon-Do a wedging block (hechyo makgi, in English wedging block) performed with the knifehand (sonkal) at middle level (kaunde). This is how the block list of ITF Taekwon-Do Australia lists it. It is distinguished from the related sonkal dung kaunde hechyo makgi by the striking surface: there the reverse knifehand blocks (sonkal dung, in English reverse knifehand). In the tul Eui-Am it is, according to the dotaekwondo.net breakdown, movements 27 and 32. In movement 27 the right foot moves into a right walking stance (gunnun sogi) while a middle wedging block with the knifehand is performed at the same time; movement 32 is the same block in a left walking stance.
