About
Sonkal anuro taerigi, literally an inward knife-hand strike (knifehand inward strike), is a strike with the edge of the palm (sonkal) moving toward the body's centreline. In the New Zealand syllabus, it belongs among the green-belt attacking techniques (6th gup). A biomechanical study in Applied Sciences compared it with a knife-hand strike directed outward, and the inward strike produced significantly higher force and impulse. In Won-Hyo (ITF) it is the 2nd, 5th, 14th, and 17th movement (Kildare Taekwondo breakdown), and in Kwang-Gae the 15th and 19th.
