About

Sondung nopunde bakuro taerigi, literally high back-hand outward strike, is in ITF Taekwondo a strike (taerigi) with the back of the hand (sondung) at a high level (nopunde) directed outward (bakuro). It differs in tool from the back-fist strikes (dung joomuk): sondung is the back of the hand, dung joomuk the back of the fist. In the tul Tong-Il it is movement 7 and 9, per the breakdowns of both dotaekwondo.net and taekwondo.sk. Movement 7 is described by dotaekwondo.net as a high outward strike with the back of the left hand while stamping the left foot into a right L-stance (niunja sogi); movement 9 is mirrored, with the right hand in a left L-stance. In both cases it is followed by a kick into one's own palm (anuro nopunde sewo chagi).
