About
Sonbadak noollo makgi, literally a palm pressing block, is in ITF Taekwon-Do a block with the open palm, sonbadak, guided downward with a pressing motion; noollo means to press. The United ITF Australia glossary gives it as palm pressing block. It does not stop the attack by an impact of the forearm but deflects it by the pressure of the palm. Per itftkdtheory.com, it blocks mainly the lower arm, fingers ending at abdomen level. It differs from sang sonbadak noollo makgi in hand count: this is the single-hand variant, sang means double. It differs from sonbadak ollyo makgi in direction: noollo presses down, ollyo lifts up. In Joong-Gun it is the 27th and 29th movement, in Kwang-Gae the 21st and 22nd; both performed in the low stance, nachuo sogi.
