Sempok is a seated position of pencak silat and kuntao. The Boulder Silat glossary describes it as a front seated, cross-legged position, while the Clear Silat glossary calls it a front seated siloh. Siloh is a position for fighting seated or crouched that allows control of an opponent on the ground. Sempok forms a pair with depok: sempok is the front variant of the seated position, depok its back variant. We have not been able to document either the literal meaning of the name or who introduced the position.
