About

Sang sonbadak ollyo makgi, literally double lifting block with the palms, is a block in ITF taekwondo in which both palms (sang means double) rise upward together (ollyo). The United ITF Australia glossary lists it as twin palm upward block, and the Kildare Taekwondo manual as twin palm heel upward block; per this English name, the block is made with the palm heel, not the fingers or the knife-hand edge. It differs from the single-hand sonbadak ollyo makgi in that both palms work at once. It differs from sang sonbadak noollo makgi in the direction of motion: ollyo lifts upward, noollo pushes downward. According to the Kildare Taekwondo manual, the technique first appears in the ITF tul Choong-Moo, where it is the 28th movement.
