About
Pyeonsonkkeut sewo jjireugi (in English Spear Hand Vertical Thrust) combines pyeonsonkkeut, the extended fingertips, with sewo jjireugi, a vertical thrust. Kukkiwon terminology describes sewo jjireugi as a thrust with vertically held fingertips and gives the solar plexus as the target; one hand performs the pressing block nulleo makgi while the other thrusts with its support. It differs from eopeo jjireugi, where the fingers are turned over, precisely by the hand's position. In the poomsae Taegeuk Sah Jang it appears twice in ap kubi; per the Taekwondo Compendium (nbtkda.com) it comes after nulleo makgi during the step from dwit kubi to ap kubi. In Taebaek it likewise follows nulleo makgi and is followed by a wrist release (palmok ppaegi).
