About

Palgup dollyeo chigi (팔굽 돌려치기), in English elbow turn strike, is in Kukkiwon terminology one of the dollyeo chigi strikes: a strike using the body's rotational force delivered horizontally against the target. Palgup is the elbow, dollyeo means to turn, chigi strike. Kukkiwon gives the temple or solar plexus as the target; the same movement also strikes with the knee (mureup dollyeo chigi). Taekwondo Compendium lists it in Taegeuk Pal Jang under the English name elbow hook. Per Phoenix Taekwondo's photo breakdown it appears twice in ap kubi, and the Compendium places it in a chain with deungjumeok ap chigi and bandae jireugi, where all three movements flow directly from the previous one's end without a starting position. It differs from palgup geodeureo dollyeo chigi in Taegeuk Oh Jang in that the other hand does not support the strike.
