About

Nopunde palkup taerigi, literally high elbow strike, is in ITF taekwondo a strike with the elbow (palkup) at the high level (nopunde). The New Zealand ITKD manual lists separately the front elbow strike (ap palkup taerigi) and the upper elbow strike (wi palkup taerigi). In the tul Juche it is, per the dotaekwondo.net breakdown, the 9th and 21st movement. In the 9th movement the practitioner strikes with the right elbow while the left palm presses on the right fist, and takes a left walking stance (gunnun sogi); in the 21st movement the same mirrored with the left elbow. The Slovak ITF breakdown lists both movements as nopunde palkup bandae taerigi.
