About

Narani sogi, in English parallel stance, is a parallel stance in ITF taekwondo; narani means parallel. The International Taekwon-Do New Zealand manual lists it among the first white belt stances alongside the ready stance narani junbi sogi, which the ITF Taekwon-Do Theory overview describes as feet parallel at shoulder width. We have not been able to find the dimensions of narani sogi itself in the sources. According to the dotaekwondo.net breakdown, the parallel stance is used in movements 13 and 26 of the tul Eui-Am (slow turning punch), 42 of the tul Juche (fingertip cut), 32, 33, 39 and 40 of the tul Choi-Yong, 10, 11, 21 and 22 of the tul Yon-Gae (hooking palm block and punch), and 9 and 13 of the tul So-San (twin knifehand horizontal strike).
