About
Narani seogi (English: parallel stance) is defined by Kukkiwon terminology as a stance in which both feet are parallel to each other; narani means parallel. The Taekwondo Compendium lists the same stance as naranhi seogi. The Phoenix Taekwondo photo breakdown lists it three times in Taegeuk Yook Jang: twice with the kick dollyeo chagi, once after a 270° turn with a kihap shout, and once with the low spreading block arae hechyeo makgi. In Keumgang it appears twice with arae hechyeo makgi, which the Compendium holds for five seconds. Pyongwon opens with it: a low spreading knife-hand block sonnal arae hechyeo makgi and the ready posture tongmilgi junbi. According to the Compendium, in Pyongwon the step into the stance begins as soon as the hands start to separate.
