Quick Facts
About
Hanuman hern belongs among the mae mai, the 15 basic techniques of Thai fighting also called mai khru, master techniques. Lincoln Thai Boxing lists it under the transliteration Hanuman Wern Weha as the eleventh in order and describes it as an attack in which the fighter jumps onto the opponent's front leg and delivers a knee strike. Techniques beyond the fifteen mae mai are called luk mai and are taught only after the basic mae mai have been mastered. We have not been able to document either the literal meaning of the name or the origin of the technique.
