About
Liao dao (撩刀) is an upward, circularly led cut with the Chinese dao saber. It is one of the basic dao techniques practiced separately in competitive wushu under IWUF rules. When practiced on its own it requires a pronounced rotation of the body. Liao dao differs from the downward cut pi dao and from the thrust zha dao in the direction the blade travels, rising upward. We have not been able to document who included the technique in the competitive dao canon.
