About

Keun doljjeogwi, literally big hinge (in English Large Hinge or Big Hinge), is a WT taekwondo technique the Kukkiwon terminology dictionary classes under doljjeogwi, the hinge: a preparatory motion for carrying out follow-up attacks and defences. Alongside it the dictionary lists the smaller variant jageun doljjeogwi, which the Taekwondo Compendium places in the poomsae Taebaek. The Compendium lists keun doljjeogwi among the special techniques of the poomsae Keumgang along with the turning variant dollyeo keun doljjeogwi, and notes that the strike should aim at solar-plexus height with the forearm kept clear of the torso. In the Phoenix Taekwondo photo breakdown it corresponds, in Keumgang, to the repeated captions Hinge Punch in juchum seogi.
