About
Jebipum sonnal an chigi (제비품 손날 안치기), in English swallow knife hand inward strike, is in Kukkiwon terminology one of two forms of the jebipum chigi strike (jebipum means swallow). Jebipum chigi combines defense and attack in one movement: one hand, shaped as a knife hand, blocks upward (ollyeo makgi), while the other simultaneously strikes the opponent at the jaw or neck. This form is the inward knife hand strike (sonnal an chigi); the other is the forward palm heel strike (batangson ap chigi). Taekwondo Compendium lists it in both Taegeuk Sah Jang and Taebaek under the shorter name jebipum chigi (swallow strike). In Taegeuk Sah Jang, according to Phoenix Taekwondo's photo breakdown, it appears twice; in Taebaek once, always in ap kubi stance.
