About
Geodeureo bakkat makgi (거들어 바깥막기), in English assisting (supporting) outward block, is in Kukkiwon terminology a variant of the outward block bakkat makgi, taking the arm from inside to outside the defender's body. Geodeureo means to support: the other hand supports the blocking arm. Without a specified surface it blocks with the outer wrist edge; Kukkiwon also lists variants with the inner wrist edge, the edge of the hand, and its reverse edge. Taekwondo Compendium lists it in Taegeuk Pal Jang as momtong geodeureo bakkat makgi, an assisted outward block at middle level. Phoenix Taekwondo's photo breakdown shows it at the poomsae's start in dwit kubi. For the following strike baro jireugi, the Compendium notes the supporting hand pulls back to the hip while the blocking arm's knuckles drop from shoulder to solar-plexus height.
