About

Dwit cha jirugi is, in ITF terminology, the back piercing kick. Its striking surface is the edge of the foot, balkal. According to the Soo Shim Kwan analysis, the suffix jirugi refers to the Korean jjireugi, a piercing thrust, the same root as in the fist strike. The kick therefore belongs to the same group of piercing kicks as the side yop cha jirugi, unlike kicks marked with plain chagi. The UKTA (Caterham) syllabus lists it among the attacking techniques required for the 3rd kup grading. In the tuls it appears in Choong-Moo as the 15th movement.
