About

Dwi dora yeop chagi (in English Back Turning Side Kick) is yeop chagi, a side kick, performed after turning the back (dwi dora). The Taekwondo Compendium (nbtkda.com) gives it as a new technique introduced by the poomsae Pyongwon; per the source it helps understand the body's central axis and is hard to perform without keeping balance. The same source stresses that it is not dwi chagi (back kick), with which it is often confused. In Pyongwon it appears twice and each time follows ap chagi: the first kick should land with the foot fully turned 180°, and only then comes the second. After pulling back the kicking leg, the standing leg stays in place for the following dwit kubi.
