About
Digutja makgi is in ITF Taekwon-Do a block shaped like the letter U. It serves mainly to catch and control attacks with staff weapons, for example a stick, or attacks from several directions. In the grading syllabus of the New Zealand club Tiger Taekwon-Do it belongs to blue belt level (4th gup). The lower elbow is at the side in line with the hip, the upper hand is vertically above it on the same line, and the body is in a half-facing position. ITF terminology distinguishes from it sang bandalson digutja makgi, a double U-shape block with an arc hand, and digutja japgi makgi, a U-shape block combined with a grab. In the tul Joong-Gun (ITF) it is the 31st and 32nd movement, in Choong-Moo the 18th movement.
