About
Deungjumeok ap chigi (English: Back Fist Forward Strike) combines deungjumeok, the back of the fist, with ap chigi, a forward strike. Kukkiwon terminology describes the back-fist ap chigi as a strike to the opponent's nose or philtrum, in which the elbow bends and the hand moves circularly from inside forward or outside inward. The Taekwondo Compendium (nbtkda.com) specifies the strike lands with the back of the first two knuckles of the clenched fist. In Taegeuk Sah Jang it appears once, in Oh Jang five times, the last with kihap in dwi kkoa seogi with a stamp, and in Pal Jang twice; the rest are in ap kubi. For Sah Jang the Compendium states the strike ends at the centerline at philtrum height; in Pal Jang it follows palgup dollyeo chigi without a starting position.
